HONOLULU (November 19, 2007) Brookfield Homes Hawai’i was named a finalist for Pacific Business News’ 2007 Business Leadership Community Spirit Award. The annual award recognizes a for-profit company that has made a significant contribution to the community.
Jeff Prostor, president of Brookfield Homes Hawai’i, said, “We are proud to be nominated with other civic-minded companies. It is a gratifying experience to be able to give back to Hawai’i’s community and we are committed supporting initiatives that preserve the Islands’ unique history, build our future, and improve our quality of life for many years.”
Over the past year, Brookfield Homes Hawai’i has provided our schools and teachers with the tools they need to create quality-learning environments through their Holomua Education Program, a program that supplies local schools with the technology, interactive learning tools, and underwriting support needed to enhance the educational development of our keiki. Through strategic community partnerships, Brookfield helped to restore a 600-year-old archaeological site on Kauai’s Na Pali Coast, allowing future generations to learn about and appreciate Hawaii’s beautiful culture and traditions. Brookfield showcased the aloha spirit through ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” by spearheading nearly 3,000 volunteers from across the Islands to help build a community learning-center and new home for a deserving family of 6, allowing Momi Akana and Keiki O Ka Aina to continue to provide programs for underserved families for years to come.
